Production Enhancements extends standard manufacturing and assembly functionality in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, offering automated lot tracking, instant label printing, and deeper inventory insight. The app manages production through automatic lot assignments, intelligent suggestions across production workflows, and centralised configuration options.
Eliminates manual lot tracking by intelligently suggesting lot numbers using FEFO logic for consumption and item number series for output. Output lot numbers are automatically assigned from the item's Lot No. Series or Production Order number; consumption lot numbers suggest the oldest available lot (FEFO) for proper stock rotation; assembly order lot numbers are automatically allocated to component lines; and the feature has an independent enable/disable configuration from Manufacturing Setup.
Automatically calculates expiration dates on output postings based on the item's expiration calculation formula and posting date. Auto-calculated expiry dates are computed from item formula and posting date, consistent lot data appears across every output item ledger entry, a configurable toggle exists in Manufacturing Setup, and FEFO compliance support covers picking and consumption strategies.
Enables targeted updates to BOM or routing on individual production order lines without resetting the entire order. Line-level refresh applies to single released production order lines, BOM version awareness uses the order starting date, phantom BOM support extends up to 50 levels deep, and other production order lines are preserved.
Surfaces lot numbers directly on the Production Journal with inline editing capabilities. The Lot No. column appears directly on the journal page, consumption lot numbers are editable without opening Item Tracking Lines, output lot numbers are locked to prevent accidental changes, and quantities sync automatically with reservation entries.
Generates professional labels with lot numbers, expiry dates, and item details. Print from Released and Finished Production Orders, print lot-level labels from Posted Purchase Receipts, labels include item number, description, lot number, expiry date, UOM, item references, and custom fields, and the number of label copies per production order is configurable.
Breaks down inventory quantities per lot number for granular stock counting. Lot-level breakdown appears on the Physical Inventory Journal, the Lot No. field is visible on journal lines, automatic item tracking maintains correct reservation entries, and the feature can be enabled or disabled from the Inventory Setup page.
